EAA Chapter 1298 Brooksville Florida Featured Stories
Phil Renard attended the Rusty Pilots seminar at Kissimmee Airport

Members of the squadron were very accommodating and happy to show us the aircraft. Weather was perfect. In addition to the Rusty Pilot seminar, which counts for 3 hours of ground school towards your biannual flight review, they also presented an AME and Airport Controller who addressed those attending.

The seminar was held at the Stallion 51 Hangar on the airport. The link is http://www.stallion51.com/

The P-51 Mustang “Crazy Horse” was built in 1944 as a P-51D and later converted to NA/Cavalier dual cockpit standards. It bears the authentic colors of the 487th FS, 352nd FG, 8th AF at Asche, Belgium, 1945

You can purchase an “Orientation Flight” for around $3,500. During preflight you and the instructor will customize your flying experience based upon your input and experience. You get to do the majority of the flying from basic maneuvering to high performance aerobatics

They will be at the Sun N Fun Event, April 10-15, 2018. Being a member of the EAA or AOPA will qualify you to a $5 discount on your ticket. However, you need a code from your organization to get the discount.

Yes, you can fly this one too. The L-39 Turbojet was designed and built by Aero Vodochody, a Czechoslovak aircraft company.  Stallion 51’s L-39 was manufactured in 1981 and acquired by the company in 2010.  The L-39 is a versatile, high performance jet trainer aircraft with a dual cockpit that allows for excellent student-instructor flight training

After acquiring the aircraft, Stallion 51 implemented major modifications, including the installation of a state-of-the-art EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) to simulate current corporate jet aircraft, and an onboard camera system that is used to record training flights for review in debrief

This is a T-6 Texan taxing out for takeoff. This is also available for flying. All the planes have “onboard video” and you get copy of your flight to relive the experience. Texan Flight Ops provides orientation flights and checkout training in the North American T-6G Texan. You can enjoy a rare opportunity to experience firsthand the thrill and excitement of flying a vintage WWII advanced trainer. The Texan is a two seat, dual controlled, 600 horsepower ex-military trainer used for advanced gunnery and fighter tactics training.

The hangar was occupied by three P-51 Mustangs and an L-39 Albatross. All 4 aircraft are available for a flight lesson. The picot gets to log PIC and they also provide a video of the flight from an onboard camera. Cost for pre flight planning, a one hour flight, and de-briefing in the P51 Mustang is around $3,500.

Here is a link to the Stallion 51 website. All the planes a in perfect ccondition and all it takes is money to have an experience of a lifetime. Of course, there may be some of you that have actual experience in these types of planes. Sounds romantic until you remember people are shooting at you,
